I'll tell the story of how I arrived here later, but where I am is what some might call serendipitous. (I don't like to use big words. But I happen to like this word. When I write my credo, it'll be in there.)
But anyway, enough about my credo. Back to Hollywood, or more correctly, Beverly Hills. I'm cruising Santa Monica Boulevard...joyriding and soaking up the nice weather. What could make it better? I thought. So I decide to stop for a mocha. A few blocks later, here I am, pecking away at the Starbucks at Wilshire and Santa Monica. I look up and there it is: Creative Artists Alliance. It's only one of the top talent agencies for A-listers. Serendipity!
I happen to be looking for an agent! I'm working on a concept for a reality TV series, staring myself, as "The Dog Designer" and my best bud Barley a soft coated Wheaten Terrier. I can't say too much about it except it's a kick-ass idea and it's designed to hit a market that spends $40 billion annually on stuff for their pets. Not only that, but there has yet to arrive an upbeat, feel-good series for pet lovers and dog people, except for my favorite, The Dog Whisperer.
So, I am off working my way from the bottom, and I mean the very bottom, up through the business of Hollywood and television. I am far from walking through the doors across the street. But I have no fear. I am not afraid of hard work. I mean, try building a high-end website development and software company in a small town in Lafayette, LA, and running it for 10 years. That's pretty tough.
My first order of business is to find an agent to help me pitch my TV series project. I thought that would be fairly easy, but it seems like I am standing at the gate. Today, some promising things have happened, and I am optimistic. (Even if nothing happened today, I am still optimistic!) I am confident that what I have in the works is excellent and would go straight to the top). I mean come on...have you channel surfed lately!
The world needs a bright, funny, upbeat reality show right now.
--- That concludes today's episode. I hope you'll tune in again for Episode 2, of Barking Up Hollywood, coming soon.
